Hi, I’m MaryBeth—founder and maker behind Gray Matter Goodies.
This business grew out of a hobby I picked up back in 2015, when I first set out to learn the art of candle-making. What started as a creative curiosity quickly turned into a lasting passion—one I’ve continued ever since. Each year, it’s become a personal tradition to gift a holiday candle to friends and family, made by hand in my own kitchen.
Today, Gray Matter Goodies is a collection of small-batch, scent-driven goods crafted to stir memory and mood. From candles and room sprays to reed diffusers and sage smudge sticks, everything I create is made with intention and a love for sensory rituals that feel grounding, nostalgic, and just a little bit magical.

How the Goodies Get their glow
Every Gray Matter Goodie begins with thoughtfully sourced ingredients chosen for their safety, sustainability, and sensory impact. We use clean-burning soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils to ensure that what fills your space is as gentle as it is memorable.
Each item is hand-poured in small batches right from my home kitchen, allowing for care, consistency, and a personal touch in every pour. Our scents are carefully curated and tested to evoke emotion and atmosphere—never overwhelming, always intentional. It’s quality you can feel good about, whether you’re gifting or grounding.
